Why I Picked Steem As My Preffered Blogging Platform
But you’re writing this on Medium, well yes since in platform content may be picked up by internal search and ranks well since Medium is such a popular domain. The point is simply to reach some non-steemians of which there are more of than there are steemians.
Notice in my title I mentioned STEEM and not Steemit. Because Steemit is only one website/front end that allows you access to the blockchain. Once you’ve created an account/wallet you will have access to any applications built on the STEEM blockchain.
If you’re interested to see which sites are built on steem and what you will have immediate access to through your single account you can find a list here
It’s more than just a blog
I started a medium blog a while back but I was sort of overwhelmed with the level of authors and the content being put out on here and knew I was never going to get my content seen by anyone.
I have never been the best content creator but I do like to share my thoughts and hey if someone wants to interact with it, that would be cool. Which is what I what I currently get out of the platform, along with a few cryptocurrency donations from my readers/followers, which is nice.
Steem is a shared universe
While Medium is a great place to find high-quality content and does this very well STEEM is more of a sandbox for all the applications on the chain. If you want to share your gameplay on Splinterlands?
If you want to upload a great video on dTube, do it, if you want to blog directly on Steemit you’re welcome to do it, there is no right or wrong way to use the platform, it's yours to shape as you please and users who dig your vibe will become your tribe.
You don’t have to leave Medium
I’m not here to convert you, only to encourage your interest in checking out an alternative you may enjoy using, maybe you won’t, the point is to try new things.
Since STEEM is a community focused decentralised application there is always someone thinking of nifty ways to use the chain and developing their own integrations.
Medium users can cross-post to their steem account using https://share2steem.io/ which allows you to connect your STEEM account to sources like
- YouTube
- Medium
- Twitch
Your piece of the internet
Since STEEM is decentralised you as a user own a piece of the action by holding the currency which you can buy, earn, trade or use. Content cannot be censored and since it's still very much in its formative years, new users really have complete freedom to shape their niche on the platform.
Take the leap
So what are you waiting for? What do you have to fear? Have you heard of STEEM? Is it still too geeky for you? Let me know in the comments
